I am an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on sculpture. I use a wide range of media and experiment with various materials to discover different ways they can work together. The current manifestations for my work focuses on repurposing discarded material. Such as including mixing elements from nature with manufactured materials. Working with nature and discarded objects is exciting because of the surprises they contain. Recently I have been examining flowers; dissecting them, flower pounding, and using the dismantled pieces to build new pieces. This is both a study in process and an examination into the practice of destroying living things to satisfy our curiosity.
My art is meant to encourage people to examine the mundane from a different perspective. Playing with a variety of materials helps to address the world we are in; finding beauty in the overlooked, the interesting in the ordinary. Local materials and lore feature in my work, often in subtle ways. Recurring themes in my work revolve around change, instability, and dark humor.
In addition to making sculptures I am also a printmaker, bookbinder, photographer, and flower smasher.
I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. I am an art student at California State University of Northridge with plans to graduate with a BA in Studio Art in 2022. I have an AA in Art History from Los Angeles Valley College. Before returning to school I worked in the offices of Lee's Comics for several years. I am a book addict and collector of curiosities.
